Honeywell L5210: How to Program a 5816 Perimeter on a Door?

This video will show how to program a Honeywell 5816 instant perimeter on a door using a Honeywell LYNX Touch L5210 wireless security system. Remove the Honeywell 5816 from its packaging box, remove the front cover by depressing the tab on the contact, write down the 7 digit serial number, insert the battery, seal the cover back up.

To program: From the home screen select security, more, tools, installer code "default code is 4112", program, zones, highlight first available zone or add new, select serial number, input the serial number, loop number is 2, assign zone description, device type is door, response type is perimeter, report yes, select chime type, supervision supervised, save, back, yes, exit to the home screen. That's how you program a Honeywell 5816 to a door using the perimeter setting.

The Honeywell 5816 Door/Window contact is a two zone wireless transmitter with both built-in magnetic reed switches and wired closed circuit contact loop. It Features a standard white plastic case “a brown case is available in packs of three 5816BR” and included is a supervised replaceable CR123 battery.

Perimeter is a setting used when the end user arms their system and a zone is opened while the system is armed there will be no delay time allowing them to disarm the system before the alarm goes off. The alarm will sound and you will receive a call from our central monitoring station if you have activated alarm monitoring. As well as a notification from total connect 2.0 applications on your smart device if activated as well.

The 5816 contact is one of the larger contacts that Honeywell develops aesthetically but, for overall applied usage the 5816 is a great addition to your alarm system. With its larger size comes a larger antenna, this antenna provides you a much better range from the contact to the panel.

A neat feature that the 5816 carries is its ability to carry one hardwired contact. This application is perfect for garage doors needing an overhead garage door contact. All you have to do is hard wire the overhead garage door contact to the provided terminals inside the 5816 wireless Door/Window contact and program the contact as a loop one instead of loop 2. Stay tuned to our support center and make sure to follow our YouTube page where we will have a video on how to do this.
