Honeywell L5210: How to Program a 5816 entry exit 1 with a Door?

This video shows you how to program a Honeywell 5816 entry exit 1 to a door using the Honeywell LYNX Touch L5210 wireless security system. Remove the Honeywell 5816 from its packaging box, remove the front cover by depressing the tab on the contact, write down the 7 digit serial number, insert the battery, seal the cover back up.

To program: From the home screen select security, more, tools, installer code "default code is 4112", program, zones, highlight first available zone or add new, select serial number, input the serial number, loop number is 2, assign zone description, device type is door, response type is entry exit 1, report yes, select chime type, supervision supervised, save, back, yes, exit to the home screen. That's how you program a Honeywell 5816 to a door using the entry exit 1 setting.

The Honeywell 5816 Door/Window contact is a two zone wireless transmitter with both built-in magnetic reed switches and wired closed circuit contact loop. It Features a standard white plastic case “a brown case is available in packs of three 5816BR” and included is a supervised replaceable CR123 battery

When programming a door contact into the security system you have a few different options as to how you want the contact to react if triggered. Entry exit 1 delay means when you open a door or window with the system armed you will have a certain amount of time to deactivate before the alarm system goes into an alarm. In this particular video we programmed it with as an entry exit 1 which will give you 30 seconds to disable the system before the alarm is actually triggered. Click the link in the video to see how to change the default 30 second delay.

Honeywell 5816 contacts are one of the larger contacts that Honeywell develops aesthetically but, for overall usage the Honeywell 5816 contact is a great addition to your wireless security system. It has a larger antenna, which provides you with a much better range from the Honeywell 5816 contact to the security panel.

A cool feature that the Honeywell 5816 has is its ability to carry one hardwired contact. This application is perfect for garage doors needing an overhead garage door contact. All you have to do is hard wire the overhead garage door contact to the provided terminals inside the Honeywell 5816 wireless Door/Window contact, program the contact as a loop one instead of loop 2.
