Honeywell L5210: How to Program a 5816 General Monitor into a Door?
This video shows you how to program a Honeywell 5816 general monitor into a door using the Honeywell LYNX Touch L5210 wireless security system using a general monitor setting. Remove the Honeywell 5816 from its packaging box, remove the front cover by depressing the tab on the contact, write down the 7 digit serial number, insert the battery, seal the cover back up.
To program: From the home screen select security, more, tools, installer code "default code is 4112", program, zones, highlight first available zone or add new, select serial number, input the serial number, loop number is 2, assign zone description, device type is door, response type is general monitor, report yes, select chime type, supervision supervised, save, back, yes, exit to the home screen. That's how you program a Honeywell 5816 to a door using the general monitor setting.
The general monitor setting is assigned to sensors or contacts on Doors/Windows or asset protection within the premises. It is a setting that is used to track activity of the occupant and alert the occupant of the activity of others. In this example we show you how to program a gun safe door as a general monitor sensor. While using a general sensor no reports are sent to the central monitoring station but, the information is stored in the system event log. When a general monitor device is opened the system will announce activity detected and the zone descriptor one time and one time only. The fault of the zone will remain until the zone itself is closed. General response zones will not effect the ability to arm or disarm your security system.
