If you have just moved into a new home or business you may have an existing security system installed from a previous company such as ADT. If you have found that you have a DSC Powerseries PC 1864 wired security system you may be wondering what alarm monitoring options do I have to send alarm signals to a central alarm monitoring station? Can I control this PC1864 from my smartphone and devices? Geoarm security is here to answer all of these questions for you below.

The first option for alarm monitoring you have with the PC1864 security system is via phone/VOIP line alarm monitoring services. Alarm systems for over 30 years have been connected to central stations using phone lines. Even though phone line systems carry a lower monthly monitoring rate they don't provide end users with the most reliable mode of communications as phone lines can be cut by a possible intruder. If this was to occur the alarm signals will not reach the central station. Lastly, while using a VOIP or regular landline you will not be able to remotely control your system using your smart devices. In order to utilize phone line/ VoIP communications, you must have your installer code to access control panel programming menu. If you don't have the installer code you will have to default the panel back to default. "If you need help defaulting a DSC Powerseries security system contact GEOARM as we can guide you through this as long as you are going with some sort of monitoring services with us. If you end up defaulting your pc1864 you will reset all of your zone programming and user codes.

The second option end users have when it comes to communicating alarm signals back to a central alarm monitoring station is via Wi-Fi communications. If your DSC PC1864 is revision number 4.13 + you can add a BAT WIFI from IPdatatel. This will allow for full upload/downloading of information, a full virtual keypad for remote arming/disarming and central station alarm monitoring services. In order to utilize this Wi-Fi option again end users must have their installer code to access programming. If the installer code can't be found you will have to factory reset the pc1864 panel.

A third option end users have as far as alarm monitoring for a DSC PC1864 security system is via universal cellular communicators such as the Telguard TG-1 express wireless cellular communicator. A TG-1 express is a unique option because even if end users don't have their installer code they can still have alarm monitoring without having to reset their panel to factory default. In order for the TG-1 express to work, you must have a user code to arm/disarm the system, the panel must have been monitored at some point and the system must be in working order. If the answer to these three questions is yes then the TG-1 is a good option for your alarm monitoring needs. Now if you want to have interactive alarm monitoring with a TG-1 express there are a few things you must have available in order to achieve Telguard home control remote services. You must have an open zone on your motherboard and you must have the 4-digit installer code to change some of the system settings to enable interactive services. The TG-1 is also a good option because they offer different cellular carriers such as AT&T and Verizon. Select whichever service provider gives you better cellular signals in your area.

A fourth option end users have for alarm monitoring of a DSC PC1864 security system is via a DSC internet (TL260R) or a DSC cellular communicator (3G2060R-TEL). Both of these options will work if your DSC PC1864 has a version number of 4.5+. Both of these communicators will allow for Telguard home-control without having to have an extra zone available. Both of these options are decent but, will not allow for a central station such as GEOARM security to remotely access your control panels for tech support or troubleshooting.

Last but, not least if you have a DSC PC1864 security system that is revision number 4.2+ you will have the option to add an Alarm.com System Enhancement Module "SEM" part number (ADC-SEM110-PS-VZ). This is the best option in our opinion because the SEM module provides Verizon LTE communications back to the central alarm monitoring station. In addition to LTE as an advantage with this communicator, it will allow for GEOARM to remotely access end users control panel for installation, programming, troubleshooting and tech support. Lastly, with the ADC-SEM110-PS-VZ for pc1864 comes with the z-wave radio needed in order to home automation with lights, locks, thermostats and more. The Alarm.com SEM is the best option in our opinion for end users looking for the easiest DIY installations, programming and setting up a z-wave home automation network with your pc1864.
