# Can the Honeywell Lyric Controller use the Lyric Thermostat
Yes, the Honeywell Lyric Controller can use the Lyric thermostat. The Honeywell Lyric controller is the main alarm control panel and home automation Z-Wave hub for the Lyric wireless connected platform.
\*The Lyric controller is able to support up to a total 4 Lyric thermostats.
Now, lets talk about remote control of both of these devices and how they can co-exist. The Honeywell Lyric Controller which is the alarm panel and home automation hub and uses a completely different remote application than the Lyric thermostat called Total Connect 2.0.
The fact that the Honeywell Lyric thermostat is compatible with the Lyric controller means that yes, the Lyric thermostat is also able to be controlled from Total Connect 2.0. But, that doesn't mean that you will completely cut out the Honeywell Lyric app which is primarily used for the Lyric thermostat when used by itself.
When you integrate a Honeywell Lyric thermostat into a Lyric controller you will only be able to control the basic features and settings of the Lyric thermostat from Total Connect 2.0 as well as control any smart scenes that would put the Lyric controller into motion. If you want to adjust the Lyric thermostat settings in any way you will still do so through the Honeywell Lyric app.
